New Ideas Are Important When Trying To Open Doors And Find Opportunity

Posted on March 26, 2017December 10, 2023 by Paul

The one thing that drives me more than anything are ideas. I love ideas. I always wanted to work at a think tank or be the creative guy. Marketing was my first love. Marketing, Advertising. I was the kid in school reading Ad Age magazine and Adweek. Forbes. Inc. BusinessWeek. Those type publications. Those were full…

Your Body Language Shapes Who You Are – A Great Talk

Posted on May 10, 2016December 10, 2023 by Paul

I’m trying to change the way I walk. I want to walk like that one girl I see at Walmart every night – picking up garbage. She has one of those claw stick things. Her boyfriend or husband or teammate (who knows) drives the vacuum truck around. 900 mph. She walks all over the parking…

Posted on September 28, 2015December 10, 2023 by Paul

Life is NOT a Zero Sum Game. There aren’t “winners” and “losers”. If it’s been your mentality to think in these ways, you’re not doing yourself, much less anyone else, any favors. The truth is, one of the best ways to get your way every time – to truly Open Doors and find Opportunity – is to surrender your…

Open Doors And Opportunity Await Those Who Have Nothing

Posted on September 15, 2015December 10, 2023 by Paul

I spent my entire life wanting to be wealthy. It was the only thing that was going to make me happy. When I was 12 I picked up the first ever Forbes 400. I was mesmerized. I couldn’t put it down. I read it over and over and over. I took notes on the people….

Don’t Trap Schoolkids In Their Bus On The Way Home (Part 2)

Posted on September 15, 2015December 10, 2023 by Paul

We had 80,000 fans, up from 20,000, less than a year later. That’s when I made my pitch. The real money was going to come from the website. Imagine having 50 branded pages (branded meaning an oil change place, a tire center, a mechanic, whomever) each paying $1,000 a month to basically maintain their own…

How To Move On From Where You Thought You Would Be (Career)

Posted on September 13, 2015December 10, 2023 by Paul

Tim Tebow can’t play football. Sure he could kill you or I in the sport, but when it comes to playing in the Pros, nope. It’s not like the guy didn’t win a National Championship. It’s not like he didn’t win the Heisman Trophy – the two highest achievements in College football – he did….

How To Really Fix A Business

Posted on September 11, 2015December 10, 2023 by Paul

I was called into this business that I knew it pretty well. We had been working together on some online stuff for a while and they wanted me to be their marketing consultant. They asked me to come in because sales were slowing and they just weren’t sure what was going on – but with…

Welcome to Open Doors and Opportunity!

My name is Paul and I’m the owner of this blog.

The picture of me above was taken by a very famous photographer who has also photographed Presidents of the United States, numerous celebrity actors and various sports professionals, as well as other business professionals like myself.

I was supposed to have a feature article written about what a great marketing professional I was in GQ Magazine, or Fortune Magazine, or Forbes, or Playboy … one of those … but then, things went sideways.

Really sideways.

The article was never written, the photo was never used anywhere, I was fired from the job that made that photo possible, I lost my home and ended up traveling all over in my pick-up truck (known as Unit #4)  and staying in various Wal-Mart parking lots (what I like to call the Wal-Mart Condo Association) for 2 years.

In the meantime, I’ve done everything. I’ve been a partner in the largest nightclub in SWFL, written songs with Grammy Winners in the Songwriter Hall of Fame, started as a public relations grunt and worked my way to Chief Marketing Officer of a restaurant group, and much, much, much more and many things.

It’s been a crazy life – with highs and lows not experienced by anyone who ever “played it safe” — but I was born to live, and so, that’s what’s I’ve done. These are just some of those (all true 100%) stories.
