The Story Of Me Meeting Celebrities (And I’ve Met More Than Anyone)

Posted on September 23, 2015December 10, 2023 by Paul

I once saw Jimmy Buffett at a gas station. It was cool but it wasn’t an opportunity. Allison Krause came up behind me in line at a coffee shop – just a day after selling out Bridgestone Arena with Robert Plant. She was cool. Our conversation, “hey Allison how are you?” “I’m good, doing good” me…

Whatever You Do, Don’t Spit Your Teeth Out

Posted on September 23, 2015December 10, 2023 by Paul

I’m in Nashville onstage at a pretty cool venue playing a set of my original songs. The place still had a fair amount of people in it. I was on my last song. I was tired and it was a long drive home. Everyone was loving the show though, and what was supposed to be…

“Flip The Script” To Find Open Doors And Opportunity

Posted on September 21, 2015December 10, 2023 by Paul

“My most public yet of my many humiliations” … Seinfeld SE8/EP9 … Have you ever been “embarrassed”? I once caught myself “dancing” in a mirror. I was so into the song I forgot what I was doing … next thing I knew, I was out of control, and following that, I was in the mirror catching…

Are You The ‘Underdog’?

Posted on September 18, 2015December 10, 2023 by Paul

Sylvester Stallone is a bad ass. The guy just understands the struggle. The guy was so broke at one point he reportedly even sold his dog. He used his early experience to write several of the best stories in the history of cinema. – Have you ever lived and breathed something? Ever been the underdog? I…

How To Float Back To The Top When You’ve Been Under Water

Posted on September 16, 2015December 10, 2023 by Paul

I was about to drown. I was going under over and over again and at one point, I started staying under. I was trying my best to get up. Struggling. I couldn’t breathe and water was going up my nose. I had never skied on water before so I didn’t know what to do in…

Open Doors And Opportunity Await Those Who Have Nothing

Posted on September 15, 2015December 10, 2023 by Paul

I spent my entire life wanting to be wealthy. It was the only thing that was going to make me happy. When I was 12 I picked up the first ever Forbes 400. I was mesmerized. I couldn’t put it down. I read it over and over and over. I took notes on the people….

Don’t Trap Schoolkids In Their Bus On The Way Home (Part 2)

Posted on September 15, 2015December 10, 2023 by Paul

We had 80,000 fans, up from 20,000, less than a year later. That’s when I made my pitch. The real money was going to come from the website. Imagine having 50 branded pages (branded meaning an oil change place, a tire center, a mechanic, whomever) each paying $1,000 a month to basically maintain their own…

Welcome to Open Doors and Opportunity!

My name is Paul and I’m the owner of this blog.

The picture of me above was taken by a very famous photographer who has also photographed Presidents of the United States, numerous celebrity actors and various sports professionals, as well as other business professionals like myself.

I was supposed to have a feature article written about what a great marketing professional I was in GQ Magazine, or Fortune Magazine, or Forbes, or Playboy … one of those … but then, things went sideways.

Really sideways.

The article was never written, the photo was never used anywhere, I was fired from the job that made that photo possible, I lost my home and ended up traveling all over in my pick-up truck (known as Unit #4)  and staying in various Wal-Mart parking lots (what I like to call the Wal-Mart Condo Association) for 2 years.

In the meantime, I’ve done everything. I’ve been a partner in the largest nightclub in SWFL, written songs with Grammy Winners in the Songwriter Hall of Fame, started as a public relations grunt and worked my way to Chief Marketing Officer of a restaurant group, and much, much, much more and many things.

It’s been a crazy life – with highs and lows not experienced by anyone who ever “played it safe” — but I was born to live, and so, that’s what’s I’ve done. These are just some of those (all true 100%) stories.
