Beer Taste Better At A Tiki Bar

Posted on April 23, 2016December 10, 2023 by Paul

I'm sitting at the tiki bar thinking about 'life'. Not really. I'm here to hang out with the girl and look at the others that just happen to be around.

Tiki bars are my favorite places in the world.

I don't know of a better environment. They all just say the same thing, "Life is Good".

Tiki bars are Open Doors and Opportunity.

The view is better. The beer taste better. The customers are happier. (Unless of course you're that guy that needs a drink right. this. moment) And everything in life that isn't perfect doesn't really matter all that much.

All tiki bars have that "I'm on vacation" feel to them. That's what makes them so awesome.

I could live like this. If I could.

--

Don't you hate that life can't always be a vacation?

I remember my dad, working in the factory 40+ hours a week, for months at a time, just to take that one 4 day vacation to Florida to see the beach.

For 20 years, I've lived next to the beach and rarely see it. Maybe once or twice a week.

This coast is nice because we have a calm ocean. Not a bunch of waves and getting beat to death in the surf - the Gulf of Mexico this far south is as calm as a windless day on a full moon night. (for those that don't know, both the wind and the moon control the ocean)

Currently I own 3 things - maybe 4. I own a few more things than that but even people who don't own a lot fail to count some of the things they have.

Do I count those busted up golf clubs?

That worthless jump rope?

What about the blow up bed in the back of my truck?

No, I own some clothes, a truck, and a nightclub.

I'm selling the nightclub.

It's not that I own the whole thing - only a piece of it.

I'm selling my piece.

It's time.

I've been overly passionate about the club for too many years.

It's been both a source of pride and a thorn in my side.

--

A friend bought my TV. Bought my small pad.

Clothes and a truck. That's what I have.

Oh, and a guitar signed by a few not so famous and at least one 'used to be famous' person.

Owning little material possessions and sitting at a tiki bar having an adult beverage?

I'll take it. Love it. Almost perfect.

That's doing pretty good I'd say. A Open Doors and Opportunity kind of day.

Blessed. God is Good.

About

Open Doors and Opportunity – it’s what we wake up each day hoping to find.

We need Open Doors and Opportunity in order to move forward, become healthier, and live better lives.

Spiritual, emotional, physical, and financial improvements can only come from finding and using Open Doors and Opportunity to your advantage … (more)

Welcome to Open Doors and Opportunity!

My name is Paul and I’m the owner of this blog.

The picture of me above was taken by a very famous photographer who has also photographed Presidents of the United States, numerous celebrity actors and various sports professionals, as well as other business professionals like myself.

I was supposed to have a feature article written about what a great marketing professional I was in GQ Magazine, or Fortune Magazine, or Forbes, or Playboy … one of those … but then, things went sideways.

Really sideways.

The article was never written, the photo was never used anywhere, I was fired from the job that made that photo possible, I lost my home and ended up traveling all over in my pick-up truck (known as Unit #4)  and staying in various Wal-Mart parking lots (what I like to call the Wal-Mart Condo Association) for 2 years.

In the meantime, I’ve done everything. I’ve been a partner in the largest nightclub in SWFL, written songs with Grammy Winners in the Songwriter Hall of Fame, started as a public relations grunt and worked my way to Chief Marketing Officer of a restaurant group, and much, much, much more and many things.

It’s been a crazy life – with highs and lows not experienced by anyone who ever “played it safe” — but I was born to live, and so, that’s what’s I’ve done. These are just some of those (all true 100%) stories.
