Beer Taste Better At A Tiki Bar

Posted on April 23, 2016December 10, 2023 by Paul

I’m sitting at the tiki bar thinking about ‘life’. Not really. I’m here to hang out with the girl and look at the others that just happen to be around. Tiki bars are my favorite places in the world. I don’t know of a better environment. They all just say the same thing, “Life is…

Why Bring Money To The Beach?

Posted on February 19, 2016December 10, 2023 by Paul

Sometimes I do. But usually I don’t. Going to the beach with money in my pocket just doesn’t make any sense. The real wealth is “out there”. It’s the ocean. The sand. The shells. The wind. The sun. The clouds. The rainstorm in the distance. It’s things money can’t ever buy. People with money can’t…

Who Nominated You As The Rule-Maker?

Posted on December 14, 2015December 10, 2023 by Paul

I don’t like seeing people at their worst. I don’t like going to the hospital. I don’t like looking at mug shots. I don’t like seeing people in accidents. I’m just not “that guy”. Some people love it. It’s like crack to them to see someone else going to jail because they are a meth…

What To Do When You Have No Believer Or Help

Posted on November 30, 2015December 10, 2023 by Paul

I wanted to do stuff. Accomplish something. Break out. Succeed. I wanted to go further than anyone ever has. Ever will. Change the world in ways that no one imagined. Like Ford. Gates. Jobs. Einstein. Bell. Elvis. Jordan. Bo knows. I needed a believer. I needed someone to believe. I needed someone to believe enough…

What To Do When A Semi-Truck Is Heading Your Way

Posted on November 23, 2015December 10, 2023 by Paul

And so there I was, driving down the freeway on a clear moon lit night, when all the sudden someone tried to kill me. For all intents and purposes, without the mercy of God, I would have died that night – might should have – but I’m alive and well. And this happened several years…

Sometimes I Turn Into Lieutenant Dan

Posted on November 9, 2015December 10, 2023 by Paul

I get angry at God. I yell. I scream. I demand answers. I flat out reject everything. And then I come to my senses. The truth is, I’m human. I get as frustrated as anyone ever does or ever can – and it happens way more often than it needs to happen. At least, in…

Welcome to Open Doors and Opportunity!

My name is Paul and I’m the owner of this blog.

The picture of me above was taken by a very famous photographer who has also photographed Presidents of the United States, numerous celebrity actors and various sports professionals, as well as other business professionals like myself.

I was supposed to have a feature article written about what a great marketing professional I was in GQ Magazine, or Fortune Magazine, or Forbes, or Playboy … one of those … but then, things went sideways.

Really sideways.

The article was never written, the photo was never used anywhere, I was fired from the job that made that photo possible, I lost my home and ended up traveling all over in my pick-up truck (known as Unit #4)  and staying in various Wal-Mart parking lots (what I like to call the Wal-Mart Condo Association) for 2 years.

In the meantime, I’ve done everything. I’ve been a partner in the largest nightclub in SWFL, written songs with Grammy Winners in the Songwriter Hall of Fame, started as a public relations grunt and worked my way to Chief Marketing Officer of a restaurant group, and much, much, much more and many things.

It’s been a crazy life – with highs and lows not experienced by anyone who ever “played it safe” — but I was born to live, and so, that’s what’s I’ve done. These are just some of those (all true 100%) stories.
