A Good Looking Girl And A Mud Park Get In A Fight

Posted on June 1, 2016December 10, 2023 by Paul

I was just talking to this girl I see almost every day. She’s good looking, but not in the sense other girls are good looking. She’s good looking in the sense that no matter what city she went to she would be found to be attractive. Part of it is looks – but it’s personality…

Why Being True To Yourself Is More Important Than Listening To Others

Posted on May 26, 2016December 10, 2023 by Paul

My radio show was a work of sheer magic. It was not easy. Take that back. It was easy for everyone involved on the air or on the radio show itself – the talent. But NOT for the people who weren’t – the business office. They couldn’t understand what I was doing. “Why are you…

Open Doors And Opportunity Is Everywhere. Can You Recognize It?

Posted on May 24, 2016December 10, 2023 by Paul

Robert Reynolds (former bass player for the Grammy winning group The Mavericks) taught me how to hail a cab. We were in Nashville and had been together in the studio all day. At that time he was married to Trisha Yearwood (now the wife of Garth Brooks – the largest selling artist of all time)…

Jesus Didn’t Have A High School Diploma (Good Thing The Methodist Didn’t Know!)

Posted on May 23, 2016December 10, 2023 by Paul

My dad was the pastor of a Methodist church for three years. Three glorious years  where he loved what he did and the people loved him. That church was completely unified behind him and everyone loved everyone else and did things together all the time. It was one huge family. For three years. It was…

Jesus’ Last Name Is Not Please (What To Do When You’re Running On Empty)

Posted on May 21, 2016December 10, 2023 by Paul

Note to self: Jesus’ last name is not Please. It’s Christ. Note to Jesus: Please (oh, there I go again …) It seems I am constantly and forever saying out of need and necessity, “Jesus please”. So much so He might think it’s His last name. But He didn’t come here and give His life…

A Real Estate Agent, An Antiques Store Owner, And A Homeless Guy Meet In Naples

Posted on May 16, 2016December 10, 2023 by Paul

On the way to the beach I met a couple from California. They had just got out of their car and were surveying the ocean in all it’s afternoon glory. As it happened they are in town to buy a second home. “Moorings nice?”, asking me as if I belonged there. “Yeah. Condo’s start at…

Oh No! Quicksand!

Posted on May 15, 2016December 10, 2023 by Paul

I just saw an internet meme. Facebook strikes again. “When I was a kid I thought that Quicksand was going to be a much bigger problem than it is.” Too funny. When you’re a kid it seems like you’re always going to land in quicksand. When you grow up, you worry about it all the…

About

Open Doors and Opportunity – it’s what we wake up each day hoping to find.

We need Open Doors and Opportunity in order to move forward, become healthier, and live better lives.

Spiritual, emotional, physical, and financial improvements can only come from finding and using Open Doors and Opportunity to your advantage … (more)

Welcome to Open Doors and Opportunity!

My name is Paul and I’m the owner of this blog.

The picture of me above was taken by a very famous photographer who has also photographed Presidents of the United States, numerous celebrity actors and various sports professionals, as well as other business professionals like myself.

I was supposed to have a feature article written about what a great marketing professional I was in GQ Magazine, or Fortune Magazine, or Forbes, or Playboy … one of those … but then, things went sideways.

Really sideways.

The article was never written, the photo was never used anywhere, I was fired from the job that made that photo possible, I lost my home and ended up traveling all over in my pick-up truck (known as Unit #4)  and staying in various Wal-Mart parking lots (what I like to call the Wal-Mart Condo Association) for 2 years.

In the meantime, I’ve done everything. I’ve been a partner in the largest nightclub in SWFL, written songs with Grammy Winners in the Songwriter Hall of Fame, started as a public relations grunt and worked my way to Chief Marketing Officer of a restaurant group, and much, much, much more and many things.

It’s been a crazy life – with highs and lows not experienced by anyone who ever “played it safe” — but I was born to live, and so, that’s what’s I’ve done. These are just some of those (all true 100%) stories.
