5 Easy Steps For Greater Peace In Your Life

Posted on May 2, 2016December 10, 2023 by Paul

There are books and TV shows, manuals and e-books of every kind trying to help you find more peace in your life. A never ending parade of advice from people who have found it in their own way. I decided to pick the 5 ways I've found peace in my life and if you want to have more peace in your life, these are some good steps to follow.

TURN OFF THE TV NEWS AND TALKING HEADS

The news is a cycle of fake outrage, compounded by more fake outrage.

Everyday you can be certain they are going to find something that you will not like, will not agree with, will not want to see - but that will get your blood boiling and will disturb your peace.

You don't need it.

You can live without knowing what's going on in the world. Especially the political world.

When you turn off the TV you're free to do other things that bring you even more peace.

MAKE OR CREATE TIME TO SIT IN SILENCE

This one is pretty hard to do if you're brand new to it, but usually it starts by simply turning the TV off or shutting down the laptop.

You must give yourself some quiet time each and every day. You need "me time".

Pray.

Meditate.

Think - but only enough to keep your mind from shutting down. You're not trying to cure cancer in this moment. You're seeking peace.

Breathe.

Imagine silent snow falling to the ground.

Silence really is golden and if you can find just a few moments each day to relax in silence, relieve the tension in your body, you will definitely have more peace.

JUST SAY NO

Many times the fastest way to peace is simply telling someone else, "no".

No, I will not be joining you for lunch.

No, I will not have time to finish that project.

No, I will not be able to go there, do that, say this or write the other.

When Yes equals stress, it's time to say no.

TAKE A NAP

For the first years of our life we always took a nap. Then at some point someone decided you didn't need a nap and that you had to stay up all day (no one likes that person).

It doesn't matter who you are, everyone needs a nap.

Take a nap. 15 minutes in the afternoon will do you more good than a 100 years at a spa - and it's a lot cheaper.

There's a reason people say "I took a nap and woke up feeling so rested!" - You know why? Because They Rested.

Naps bring peace.

TRUST GOD

6  Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

When you do these things each and every day, your life will be so much better. And a better life will lead to more Open Doors and Opportunity.

Open Doors and Opportunity – it’s what we wake up each day hoping to find.

We need Open Doors and Opportunity in order to move forward, become healthier, and live better lives.

Spiritual, emotional, physical, and financial improvements can only come from finding and using Open Doors and Opportunity to your advantage … (more)

Welcome to Open Doors and Opportunity!

My name is Paul and I’m the owner of this blog.

The picture of me above was taken by a very famous photographer who has also photographed Presidents of the United States, numerous celebrity actors and various sports professionals, as well as other business professionals like myself.

I was supposed to have a feature article written about what a great marketing professional I was in GQ Magazine, or Fortune Magazine, or Forbes, or Playboy … one of those … but then, things went sideways.

    Really sideways.

The article was never written, the photo was never used anywhere, I was fired from the job that made that photo possible, I lost my home and ended up traveling all over in my pick-up truck (known as Unit #4)  and staying in various Wal-Mart parking lots (what I like to call the Wal-Mart Condo Association) for 2 years.

In the meantime, I’ve done everything. I’ve been a partner in the largest nightclub in SWFL, written songs with Grammy Winners in the Songwriter Hall of Fame, started as a public relations grunt and worked my way to Chief Marketing Officer of a restaurant group, and much, much, much more and many things.

It’s been a crazy life – with highs and lows not experienced by anyone who ever “played it safe” — but I was born to live, and so, that’s what’s I’ve done. These are just some of those (all true 100%) stories.
